Suzuki Hayabusa: The Suzuki Hayabusa holds a very special place in the hearts of Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. Its journey in India traces back to the iconic 2004 Bollywood film Dhoom, which introduced this powerful machine to millions of viewers across the country. That single cinematic moment transformed the Hayabusa from a foreign superbike into a cultural symbol, giving it a cult-like status that few motorcycles have ever achieved. The demand that followed was so overwhelming that Suzuki eventually began local assembly of the Hayabusa in India to meet the growing appetite for the bike.
Record-Breaking Sales Performance in FY26
The financial year 2025-26 turned out to be a landmark year for the Suzuki Hayabusa in India, as the bike registered its highest-ever annual sales figures. A total of 543 units were retailed during FY26, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 6 percent compared to 511 units sold in FY25. This achievement is even more significant considering the challenging market conditions that emerged during the second half of the financial year. The Hayabusa’s cumulative sales in India have now crossed 2,943 units in total, reinforcing its position as Suzuki’s most successful superbike in the Indian market.
GST Revision Impacted Second-Half Sales
The sales trend during FY26 was not uniform throughout the year, with a sharp contrast visible between the two halves. In the first half of FY26, 324 units of the Hayabusa were sold, driven by strong consumer demand ahead of the GST revision. However, when the revised GST structure came into effect in September 2025, it increased the tax rate from 28 percent to 40 percent on two-wheelers with engine displacement above 350cc. This pushed the on-road price of the Hayabusa higher by approximately Rs 1.16 lakh, resulting in a steep 32 percent drop in sales during the second half, with only 219 units being retailed. The Hayabusa currently carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 18.06 lakh in Delhi.
Hayabusa Leads the 1,000–1,600cc Segment for Fourth Consecutive Year
The Suzuki Hayabusa retained its throne as the best-selling motorcycle in the 1,000–1,600cc segment for the fourth year running, comfortably outpacing all rivals. Kawasaki finished second in this segment with combined sales of 281 units from its Z1100, Ninja 1100SX, and Versys 1100 lineup, recording an impressive 361 percent year-on-year growth. Triumph slipped to third position with 159 units in FY26, marking a 24 percent decline from its FY25 performance of 208 units. Harley-Davidson held the fourth spot with 120 units, nearly matching its FY25 tally of 119 units through its Sportster S and Pan America 1250 offerings.
Hayabusa Remains India’s Superbike Champion
Despite facing a significant price hike midway through the financial year, the Suzuki Hayabusa managed to post record annual sales, which speaks volumes about its unmatched brand loyalty in India. The motorcycle continues to be aspirational for thousands of Indian riders who dream of owning a world-class superbike. Its blend of breathtaking performance, striking design, and strong emotional connect with Indian buyers ensures it remains in a league of its own. The Hayabusa’s reign at the top of India’s premium segment is far from over, and its story continues to inspire a new generation of riding enthusiasts.
